A post I've done recently about how to use Sunday's to prepare for a successful week received wonderful feedback, thank you! Seeing the feedback from that post inspired me to write this one - now that August/Summer is coming to an end, I thought it would be a great opportunity to write about how you can use the start of  new month/season to your advantage.

I like to look at the beginning of a new month as a refresher. It's always nice to flip the calendar to a brand new page, with an entire blank canvas in-front of you. There is so much potential that a new month can bring, a lot can happen in 4 weeks, so, why not take advantage of it?

TIP NUMBER ONE

Plan and Schedule

At the beginning of each month, I take the opportunity to plan out the entire month in my day planner. I write down payments, pay-day's, appointments etc.

If need be, I schedule specific appointments and write them in as well.

I keep my day planner colour coded. (I'm all about having my planner fun and easy to look at)

Orange highlight for payments /Pay day's

Yellow highlight for appointments

Green highlight for work related things (hours/stat holidays etc)

Pink highlight for blog related things (when posts/newsletters go out etc.)

I find that keeping everything highlighted and organized by colour keeps planning ahead much easier and fun!

Whatever you use for planning out your schedule, whether it be a calendar, journal or a day planner, make it fun!

I personally love the Band-o planners. They have fun stickers and quotes throughout the pages. I found mine at Chapters!

TIP NUMBER TWO

Budgeting

The beginning of a month is the perfect time to sit down and evaluate all the expenses for the upcoming month. It's also the perfect time to review how the previous month went for you. By doing so, you are able to see where you did good and see area's where you could improve.

The “Your Balanced Budget” Monthly Planner is a great tool to utilize your monthly budget. Its well organized and helps you keep track of your spending habits!

TIP NUMBER THREE

Keep Up With Routines & write down goals

The key to achieving success is keeping up with a productive routine. Sometimes life gets hard and it is difficult to keep up with a productive routine. One that I find myself to struggle with is hitting the gym in the morning. I like to write down specific goals for the upcoming month in order to keep this routine going. By writing down short term goals i'm subconsciously motivating myself to keep this routine, it is much easier for me to keep my personal short-term AND long-term goals within reach. So whatever routine you are trying to keep up with to better yourself and reach your goals, keep it up! The only one keeping you from this is yourself!

TIP NUMBER FOUR

Check Your Progress

With a new month comes the perfect time to review your goals and track your progress. I like to use a new month as a way to review and renew my strategies of achieving my goals.

How did the previous month go for me? What could I have done better? Am I currently where I want to be? By doing this, and asking yourself these questions, you are able to see exactly what has been working and where you have room to improve in the upcoming month.

TIP NUMBER FIVE

De-clutter

Cleaning is something I like to do on a weekly basis, but really taking the time to deep clean everything in your space is going to set a positive vibe for the upcoming month. Doing things like cleaning out your closet and donating clothes you haven't worn over the past 6 months, cleaning out your purse (seriously, how do purses get so messy?), vacuuming your car, re-arranging your bedroom, cleaning the floors, organizing your kitchen, etc. A new month is a great excuse to de-clutter your home. Living in a clean and organized home is going to give you a clear headspace and help keep stress minimal.

With that being said, I hope you can use these tips to your advantage and kick butt this month! Let me know in the comments how you like to set your months up for success, I would love to hear about it!

xx
